Enviro Cover film is a nonreusable impermeable material without interconnected pores. It does not allow fluids to flow through and is an excellent barrier to water infiltration. The overlap between Enviro Cover panels are compression sealed by ballast material. As a result, Enviro Cover deployed on the working face forms a continuous barrier that can capture as much as 97% of precipitation as runoff.

As Enviro Cover is mechanically destroyed by subsequent placement of waste, the film becomes perforated, granulated and permeable, allowing leachate to flow through for proper leachate collection and management. It also reduces the risk of unintended sideways fluid migration and side-slope leachate outbreaks, which are caused by the use of low permeability earthen or other compacted materials as daily cover.
